KEY POINTS:
A group of pensioners has been busted allegedly scamming drugs from doctors around the North Island.
Masterton detectives have charged four people after finding 150 pethidine tablets, other prescription drugs and cash.
The arrested are a 74-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman, a 65-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman.
Detective Sergeant Bill van Woerkom says it appears the group travelled around the North Island, obtaining the drugs by false pretences.
Mr van Woerkom says similar offences may have been carried out in Napier, New Plymouth and Ohakune.
The four accused will appear in Masterton District Court next month.
