A Papakura pensioner who had been on his daily train excursion was devastated to find his "pride and joy" had been stolen from the disability carpark at the station.
Robert Blair, 78, has had a quadruple heart bypass, a knee replacement and and abdominal embolism, and values his carpark at the Papakura railway station.
He has lived alone since his wife died four years ago but makes a point of going out every day - be it to the shops, the city or his biscuit-tasting sessions at the Griffin's factory.
On Friday, he took the 10am train to a Westfield shopping centre to take advantage of some of the sales in preparation for Christmas.
But when he returned at midday he found the reddish 1992 Mazda LX he had bought from Coca-Cola when he retired as a security manager was gone.
"I rubbed my eyes," he said, unable to believe that someone would steal a carfrom a disability carpark. "It's a bit rude."
Mr Blair walked across to the Papakura police station and while he was told police would look for the car, he does not hold out much hope.
Unable to buy a new one on his pension, he does not know how he will get to the shops and his twice-weekly biscuit tastings.
"I thought it would see me out," he said.
The missing car's registration is RY4786.
Anyone with information should call the Papakura police station on (09) 295 0200.
