KEY POINTS:
An elderly woman whose legs were amputated after she was hit by a car in Palmerston North in March has died.
Police said today 80-year-old Glenda Eames never recovered from her injuries and died yesterday.
Mrs Eames and her 84-year-old husband Sidney were walking along Broadway Avenue on March 29 when they were hit by a car which allegedly ran out off control as the driver was parking.
Her legs were so badly injured they were amputated at Palmerston North Hospital.
Mr Eames received multiple injuries but had since been discharged from hospital.
A 36-year-old Palmerston North man has been charged with careless driving causing death and careless driving causing injury, Sergeant Phillip Ward of Palmerston North police said.
He will appear in Palmerston North District Court this month.
