KEY POINTS:
Police have named an elderly woman who was killed yesterday after being run over by a truck in Geraldine, South Canterbury.
Ula Irvine, 89, of Geraldine, died instantly when she was run over by a six-wheeler truck in Peel St about 9.30am.
Senior Constable Jim Hopa, of Geraldine police, said Mrs Irvine, a well-known local identity, was hit outside the town's supermarket by a truck involved in construction work at the supermarket.
Police investigations were continuing.
