Police have named an elderly woman who died after she was hit by a car driven by a 78-year-old woman in the Napier suburb of Taradale yesterday afternoon.
Jean Greer, aged 83, from Taradale, left behind a husband of 57 years, Sergeant Fred van Duuren said.
The woman died at the scene of a collision which happened at about 2pm in a 50km/h zone on Church Road near the intersection with Montpelier Street, Mr van Duuren said.
Police were investigating the incident, which was "tragic for everybody involved", he said.
The driver was not injured.
