Pedestrian killed by car named

Police have named a woman who died when she was hit by a car in Canterbury on Friday.

Mandy Ward, 27, was walking along Forest Drive in Methven, 34km north-west of Ashburton, when she was hit by the car about 11.45pm, police said.

She was taken to Christchurch Hospital but died of her injuries.

Police said the driver was being spoken to.
