KEY POINTS:
A woman pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck on a side street in Geraldine, 36km north of Timaru.
Police said the woman was hit on Peel St about 9.30am. Efforts to resuscitate her failed and she died at the scene.
Inspector Lindsay Turner, of the police southern communications centre in Christchurch, said the woman's age and other details were unavailable.
Peel St was closed just after 10am to allow police to investigate. A detour was in place.
