Pedestrian dies in Waikato collision

Waikato Police are investigating a fatal crash near Gordonton on State Highway 1B last night.

Emergency Services were called to the scene about 9.10pm where a vehicle driving north has collided with a woman walking along the road.

When ambulance staff arrived family members were attempting to resuscitate her.

The pedestrian, whose name is yet to be released, is a 58-year-old woman who was visiting from Australia.

Senior Sergeant Kent Holdsworth said the crash is being investigated by the Waikato Serious Crash Unit and the matter will be referred to the Coroner.
