Pedestrian dies after being hit by train

A pedestrian died today after being struck by a train in west Auckland.

The incident happened between Glen Eden and New Lynn about 6.30am, and was not on a level crossing.

No details about the deceased were available.

The line was closed to allow police to conduct a scene examination and about 50 train passengers were transferred to a bus.
