Police are yet to decide whether charges will be laid over the death of a woman who was hit by a vehicle in Auckland last night.
The 20-year-old was rushed to Auckland City Hospital by St John Ambulance in a critical condition after being struck by an eastbound vehicle at a pedestrian crossing on Rata St, New Lynn, about 8.55pm.
She died in the early hours of this morning, a police spokeswoman confirmed.
Waitemata police district spokeswoman Beth Bates said the driver of the vehicle was cooperating with police, but it was too soon to say whether charges would be laid.
"The driver stopped at the scene and was breath-tested and no alcohol was involved.''
