A man is in a critical condition after being struck by a car on Breen Rd in Christchurch.
The pedestrian was taken to Christchurch Hospital after the crash shortly after 3pm, police said.
The driver of the car was very shaken but not injured, police said.
Breen Rd would remain closed for the next hour between Harewood Rd and Veronica St while the Canterbury police serious crash unit completed a scene examination.
