Thieves have used concrete paving stones to smash their way into two commercial buildings in Kapiti.
The break-ins follow a string of similar incidents in the past 10 days, including the theft of a giant bronze sculpture worth $250,000.
The latest thefts happened early yesterday morning. Senior sergeant Alasdair MacMillian says two generators and a weed eater were snatched from a lawnmower shop.
He says three hours later a jewellery store near Paraparaumu Beach was targeted, where silver rings and bracelets were taken.
