Former National Party MP and top level rugby player Paul Quinn allegedly lashed out at a fellow customer in a bank last week in Wellington after the man called him a "dickhead" in a dispute over a parking space.
Mr Quinn yesterday acknowledged he was involved in the fracas a day after denying any knowledge of the affair.
"I can confirm that I was involved in a disagreement at a bank in Courtenay Place last week. While there have been media reports that the police are looking into the matter, they have not been in contact with me at any stage. In my view the disagreement was a minor one and ended there."
However, Wellington police say they are investigating the incident.
The other man involved told the Weekend Herald the row began when he parked in a space Mr Quinn wanted.
