KEY POINTS:
Nine people appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court yesterday in connection with an illegal paua poaching ring.
They were arrested last month after police and fishery officers raided houses and businesses in Auckland, Opotiki, Hastings and Wellington.
Operation Paid has implicated nearly 60 people, including gang members and an Asian restaurateur.
