A man is being praised by the Fire Service after dragging a man from a burning house in central Rotorua last night.
The fire broke out at a bedsit on the corner of James St and Elizabeth St, just before 8pm last night.
Cameron Hughes, 23, told Radio New Zealand that he was visiting a friend down the road when he smelt the fire. He said when he saw there was someone inside the burning house he kicked the door down and dragged the man to safety.
The rescued man is reported to be suffering from smoke inhalation.
