A Hawke's Bay bus driver was arrested for drink driving after concerned passengers alerted police yesterday afternoon.
The driver was stopped about 5.45pm after receiving calls from some of the six passengers who had earlier been on the bus travelling from Napier to Hastings, police said.
He returned a positive breath test and was taken to Hastings police station, where a blood sample was taken.
Police were awaiting the result before charges would be considered.
His driver's licence has been suspended.
A police officer with the appropriate licence took over the bus and completed the route.
