Two people were seriously injured in a car crash near Matamata, in which one passenger was thrown from the vehicle.
Police and St John Ambulance crews rushed to the scene on Morgan Rd, west of Matamata, shortly before 10.30pm last night.
Two passengers were badly injured and the rear passenger was thrown from the vehicle when it lost control and rolled several times.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene about 11pm, as was the Hamilton-based Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter service.
Both passengers, including a 19-year-old man, were airlifted to Waikato Hospital for treatment. They both remain in a serious but stable condition.
