A serious crash near Palmerston North overnight has left one person critically injured and another in a serious condition.
A Subaru Legacy station wagon heading east on Condoit Rd, north of Woodville, lost control, hit a bank and rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its side against a shed about 1.30am.
Senior Sergeant Dylan Earle said the two occupants of the car, both local, were taken by ambulance to Palmerston North Hospital after being cut free by the Woodville Volunteer Fire Brigade.
He said the driver, 18-year-old Brendon Matthews, was in a stable condition. The 18-year-old male front seat passenger, Anthony Howse, had been transferred to Wellington Hospital due to head injuries and was in a critical condition.
Police said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash and police would conduct alcohol and vehicle tests.
