KEY POINTS:
A sleeping man, woken when the vehicle in which he was a passenger flipped this morning, took exception when the driver tried to leave the scene and chased him with a golf club.
Hamilton police said they responded to calls of a confrontation between men wielding golf clubs.
It is alleged the driver of the Isuzu Bighorn 4-wheel-drive utility had been drinking before the vehicle flipping on a quiet suburban street.
The vehicles' three occupants - including a second sleeping passenger - all suffered minor scratches and bruising.
Police said the driver "has more than just a bruised eye and five iron bumps to contemplate."
He now faces a drink driving charge.
