Police are wanting to hear from anyone who saw Dinsdale man Norman Kingi being stabbed on Ranui St on Friday night.
Kingi, 54, is believed to have disturbed a group of young people breaking into a vehicle on Ranui St when he was stabbed at approximately 11.30pm.
He was taken to Waikato Hospital but died shortly after.
The cordon at the scene has been lifted and Kingi's body has been returned to his family following a post mortem examination. The site has also been blessed by local Kaumatua.
But police say the investigation is not over and are wanting to hear from anyone who had their cars broken into in the Dinsdale or Nawton area on Friday night or any young people at a party nearby who may have witnessed the stabbing.
