A Waikato Black Power member who tattooed "Property of Leon" across the face of his former partner, who he later murdered, is on the run and should not be approached, police say.
Leon Colin Wilson, 42, stabbed Leonie Newman to death in 1995 and was sentenced to life in jail with a minimum of 10 years before he was eligible for parole.
Sergeant Blair Donaldson said Wilson had now breached his parole conditions and police wanted information on where he was.
"Wilson is a Black Power member with an extensive criminal history who is actively avoiding police," Mr Donaldson said.
"Known to have contacts throughout the upper North Island, Wilson is believed to be armed and should not be approached."
