Bruce Emery, jailed for the 2008 manslaughter of tagger Pihema Cameron, is suffering from stress and depression and cannot yet be released from prison, the Parole Board has ruled.
Emery, 52, was jailed in February last year for four years and three months for stabbing to death the teenager, whom he caught spraying graffiti on his South Auckland property.
At a recent parole hearing, the panel was told that Emery was suffering from stress and depression and for that reason was an "undue risk".
Emery said he was suffering from similar problems at the time of his offending.
The panel called for a psychological report in time for his next hearing in four months.
