KEY POINTS:
A man allegedly used his car to knock a parking warden off his scooter in a road rage incident in Dunedin today, before heading to a police station to confess.
Sergeant Chris George said the incident happened when a man aged in his 60s took exception to being issued a parking ticket.
The warden was allegedly knocked from his scooter a short time later and ended up being taken to hospital for a check to injuries understood to be minor.
Mr George said the man in the car wasted no time in heading to the police station to explain what he had done.
He now faced serious charges, including dangerous driving and failing to stop and ascertain injury.
"He presented to the watch house counter to confess it before the job was even phoned in, so he's pretty remorseful about it," Mr George said.
He said the parking warden was shaken by the incident and was likely to have suffered bruising and abrasions.
The man driving the car was due to appear in Dunedin District Court next week.
