About 1500 plants - valued at around $10 each - were planted in a perennial border at Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton, on Friday thanks to Friends of the Park.
The plants were dug in by a range of volunteers.
Main plants sponsors were the Masterton South Rotary Club, Trust House, Wairarapa Building Society and GardenBarn.
Friends member Doreen Jolly said other Masterton people and businesses were very generous and helped them achieve their goal. "This has been very much a community effort," she said.
Parks and Open Spaces task group chairwoman Jane Terpstra said it was great to see so many plants for the park garden.
