New Zealand's Governor-General has condemned the "brutal and callous" attacks on Paris.
Sir Jerry Mateparae released a statement this afternoon in the wake of the co-ordinated series of attacks on the French capital which left at least 129 people dead.
He said the impact of the terrorist attacks on innocent civilians in Paris was being felt all around the world.
"The close historic and cultural ties between France and New Zealand mean that New Zealanders are particularly shocked and saddened by these brutal and callous acts.
"On behalf of all New Zealanders, I express our solidarity with our friends in France and send our condolences to the families and friends of those who perished. Our thoughts are with them in the difficult days ahead."
