The parents of a teenage boy critically hurt in a hit and run in west Auckland last night have rushed to his bedside in Auckland Hospital.
The 19-year-old was still in a critical condition on a life support unit today after he was hit in Henderson Valley about 10.15pm.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Edwards said the man was hit on Henderson Valley Rd by a silver Subaru or similar car.
Senior Sergeant Edwards said the car did not stop after hitting the man near Henderson High School and police were appealing for witnesses.
"Police believe the car will have sustained damage to the front of the car, the right side and possibly the windscreen," Mr Edwards said.
He said anyone with information should contact Sergeant Stu Kearns on 839 0600.
