The father of slain Scottish tourist Karen Aim is to meet the family of the teenager accused of her murder.
Brian Aim told the Aberdeen Evening Express he would meet relatives of the 15-year-old boy accused of killing Ms Aim.
Mr Aim, 53, wife Peggy, and son Alan, 24, have left their Orkney home to attend the trial of the 15-year-old in Rotorua on February 9.
Mr Aim said the meeting was "one of my prayers come true".
Miss Aim died after she was attacked in Taupo in January 2008.
The family of the boy accused of attacking Miss Aim asked to meet her parents, the newspaper reported.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, remains in custody.
Miss Aim who was on a working holiday in Taupo, was allegedly fatally bashed while walking home at night after socialising with friends.
