The parents of a 4-1/2-year-old Christchurch boy now in Child Youth and Family care are being charged with leaving him alone without adequate supervision.
Cody Kahui is now in Child Youth and Family care after going missing while being left at home alone overnight.
He was reported missing from his Roche Ave home about 3am after being last seen before midnight, police said earlier this morning.
He had apparently awoken to find himself home alone, and went to a friend's house across the road where he was given breakfast.
Cody knew the people who lived there, and told them he had been left by himself.
Police had searched properties in the area early this morning before Cody was found safe and well.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Rae told NZPA Cody lived at the house with his mother and father, who were being interviewed.
