A man has been taken to hospital in serious condition with spinal and rib injuries after a paragliding crash in Queenstown.
Police were called to the scene on Malaghans Rd in Speargrass Flat at 6.45pm.
The man, aged in his 20s, was paragliding when he experienced landing issues and hit the ground "harder than expected", a St John spokesman said.
A police spokeswoman said the man "hit the ground hard" but was conscious and talking to police when they arrived at the scene.
St John confirmed the crash was not a result of equipment failure.
