An injured paraglider was brought down from Mauao after crashing on Tuesday afternoon.
Mount Maunganui lifeguards were helping St John ambulance officers retrieve the man, who crashed near the summit of the Mount, a Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service spokesman said.
It is understood part of the man's canopy collapsed and he crashed into trees.
Police were also called to the scene.
A police northern communications spokesman said they had been called to an incident potentially needing a search and rescue response, however the matter had now been resolved.
