A paraglider pilot escaped with minor injuries when he crashed in steep bush in the Marlborough Sounds last night.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue helicopter was called to the scene near Anakiwa at 6.30pm.
Crews found the 52-year-old pilot on farm land at the bottom of a steep gully. He received minor injuries in the crash but was further injured from trying to move through the gully, the rescue helicopter reported.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.
Just over two hours earlier the rescue helicopter was called to the Spenser Mountain area where a 46-year-old man had fallen 200m down the side of the mountain and suffered multiple injuries.
