Papatoetoe Central School in South Auckland has gone into lockdown due to an emergency incident nearby around Great South Rd.
In a message posted to social media, the school asked people to stay away and not to phone “as this may cause disruption to the management of this incident and could potentially place yourself and/or our staff and student’s safety at risk”.
A police spokesman said officers responded to a report of an assault at a bus stop on Great South Rd about 2.42pm.
When officers arrived at the scene, the offenders had fled. Police spoke to the victim, who was uninjured.
