A section of Clevedon Rd in Papakura is closed after a truck hit a power pole earlier today.
Traffic is being diverted down side streets while Vector contractors repair the fallen powerlines.
The crash happened near the intersection of Clevedon Rd and Cosgrave Rd just before 11.30am today.
The road may be closed for several hours and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
A Vector spokesperson said a contractor was working on the repairing the fallen power pole and it was expected to take until 7 or 8pm tonight. Only three homes in the area are without power.
Police are at the scene.
