Jetstar has notified the Civil Aviation Authority after a small panel fell off a plane flying from Auckland to Christchurch on Tuesday.
Maintenance engineers discovered that a 15cm by 15cm panel was missing from the A320 aircraft after it landed safely at Christchurch Airport at about 9pm.
Jetstar said the incident had not caused any safety issues and the plane had since resumed service.
"Jetstar maintains safety as its number one priority and the aircraft underwent the necessary rectifications to the highest standard."
The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority was also notified.
