National's Kaikoura MP Lynda Scott is on sick leave suffering from Bell's palsy, a rare form of facial paralysis.
She said it had affected the right side of her face and she was making a recovery. The MP expects to be off for four weeks, but is continuing to do electorate work from home.
Ms Scott will not seek re-election at this year's General Election.
