A Palestinian flag flew from the flagpole of the United States consulate in Auckland this afternoon.
Protesters raised the flag after about 100 people marched down Queen Street to protest Israel's actions as the country's long-running conflict with Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip escalated.
Marchers, lead by veteran political activist John Minto, also threw old shoes at the consulate. Throwing shoes is a traditional way to show disgust in the Middle East.
