Two students have won Asia New Zealand Foundation scholarships to study in Singapore and three others have won awards for study in New Zealand.
Niels Yuan, of Rotorua's Western Heights High School, and Geoffrey Jelley, of Shirley Boys' High School in Christchurch, will receive the foundation's Singapore scholarships to complete an undergraduate degree at the National University of Singapore.
Mr Yuan intends to study for a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance while
Mr Jelley wants to study engineering at the university.
Three other students have been awarded David Holborow Memorial Scholarships for 2009.
Julie Jeon and Yeri Ahn won awards for outstanding students of Korean descent.
Ms Jeon, of Palmerston North Girls' High School, will study for a Bachelor of Design at Massey University.
Ms Ahn, of Christchurch Girls' High School, is now in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Auckland University.
Katherine Errington will receive a scholarship for descendants of New Zealand Korean War (1950-1953) veterans. The scholarship is offered in association with the Korean War Veterans Association.
Ms Errington, of Christchurch, is in her honours year of a Bachelor of Arts in international relations. She completed her degree at Victoria University and intends to study for a Masters at Auckland University.
The David Holborow Memorial Scholarships are each worth $5000.
