Two men saved their neighbour's life after he fell unconscious and his house caught fire in Porirua last night.
The pair were alerted when they heard the man's smoke alarm. "One neighbour from each side ran over and found the guy unconscious in his lounge and pulled him out to safety," said Porirua firefighter Craig Gold.
The fire started when the man fell unconscious because of a diabetic condition and an unattended pot on the stove boiled over.
"They saved his life, for sure."
