Pair of aftershocks hit central New Zealand

Two strong aftershocks have rattled the top of the South Island around 2.30pm today.

A 5.9 magnitude shock hit 30km north-east of Kaikoura, and, only a minute later, a 5.7 shock struck 20km south-east of Seddon.
