The Auckland couple found dead in their home after a panicked 14-year-old girl called 111 to tell police about a serious domestic argument have been named.
They were Jacqueline Allister, 26 and Ivor Christiansen, 36, of Pakuranga.
Police received the call early yesterday from the girl who was in the house on Walworth Ave in Pakuranga.
When police arrived, they found the bodies of the pair. Both had sustained serious knife wounds.
Detective Sergeant Chris Barry said police arrived within "a matter of minutes" but it was too late.
The couple's fighting was so loud it woke David Gordon, who lives opposite the house.
"I heard this yelling and it sounded pretty bad so I went to call the police.
"But as I was picking up the phone I looked out of the window and saw all these police cars coming, and coming, and coming."
He said the yelling sounded alcohol-fuelled and agitated.
"It wasn't screaming like you would normally expect from a domestic. It sounded like someone was drunk at a party and their friend was yelling at them to go outside.
It sounded like that sort of thing."
Other neighbours said the couple had lived in the house only about six months and were usually quiet.
Mr Gordon said hearing yelling coming from the house was unusual. Saturday night was the first time he had heard the couple fighting.
"That's why I'm so shocked that they're both dead. They definitely didn't seem like a couple in an abusive relationship."
He did not know the family.
"They seemed nice enough, but they really kept to themselves. I've talked to a few of the other neighbours and none of them knew them well at all.
"I think the most anyone has had from them is a wave."
Police and forensic examiners were still at the scene late yesterday.
Post-mortem examinations are to be conducted today.
Mr Barry said no more information about the deaths could be made public because the couple's next of kin were still being informed.
Police were not looking for anyone else involved in the incident.
