Two men have appeared in court in relation to the alleged theft of copper wire worth about $20,000 from Wairarapa businesses.
Samuel Joseph Trotman, 28, of Masterton and Mason Paul Hazelwood, 43, of Porirua appeared before Judge Bruce Davidson separately on Thursday charged with the burglary of three business yards in Carterton and Masterton during a two day period in June.
The pair are accused of breaking into the Tenix yard and stealing copper wire worth $1500 and Calkin Partners yard stealing 76m of industrial copper wire on June 26. The pair are also facing a charge of breaking into Stewarts Electrical's yard the next day and stealing more copper wire.
Trotman also faces charges of stealing $15,000 worth of aluminium wire from Tenix on July 4 and stealing tools, power equipment and copper wire worth $6000 from Wai-Pine in Carterton on July 20. He also faces three counts of offering to supply cannabis.
Hazelwood faces a charge of receiving the property taken from Wai-Pine knowing it had been stolen. He also faces a charge of possession of glass pipe for smoking methamphetamine.
