Two people caught with $250,000 worth of methamphetamine were jailed when they appeared for sentence in the High Court at Hamilton yesterday.
Tribesmen gang member Kimble Moore and partner Shinella Simeon were sentenced on a count of possessing methamphetamine for supply. They had pleaded guilty to the charge at the start of their trial in February.
Moore, 42, was jailed for five years' prison, while Simeon, 36, was sentenced to two years and eight months imprisonment.
A third co-accused, Anthony Richards, also pleaded guilty to his role in the drug venture and has been remanded in custody for sentencing in Auckland, the Waikato Times reported.
The court was told that in April 2008, Richards arranged for Moore to purchase 280 grams of P in Auckland and courier it back to Hamilton.
On May 1, 2008, Simeon drove Moore to Auckland where he bought 250g of P - estimated to be worth $250,000.
On their return trip, police intercepted the couple's car and found the methamphetamine. Police also found $18,000 cash stashed in Moore's pants.
