A Painted Apple Moth has been found in another Auckland suburb.
The single live moth was found in a trap set up in an Otahuhu container facility last week.
The last Painted Apple Moth to be captured was in Mt Eden last January, about 12 kms from the latest find.
Biosecurity New Zealand said it is likely the moth is a recent introduction.
Spokesman Ian Gear said if there was a population of moths, more would have been found.
He said the latest find proves that the ongoing moth eradication programme is working.
