The Pacific Sun is still docked in Auckland, despite being given the all clear to leave at 10am.
The P&O cruise ship, which was battered by rough seas earlier this week, has undergone safety inspections after more than 40 people were injured when the vessel jolted to one side as it was hit by a high wave on its way back to New Zealand in stormy weather conditions on Wednesday.
The ship was carrying 1732 passengers and 671 crew. P&O Cruises is holding an inquiry into the incident.
A P&O spokeswoman has said the Pacific Sun had struck an unusual set of circumstances when it got into trouble during the storm.
The captain of the latest cruise has opted to take no risks with the weather on its next voyage so the vessel is not expected to leave until later today when the weather is likely to ease.
It is believed around 60 passengers cancelled their trips on today's voyage.
