A Pacific Blue plane bound for Wellington made an unplanned landing in Christchurch after the captain spotted an irregularity with the aircraft.
Forty-one passengers onboard the diverted flight were met on arrival by emergency services as a precautionary measure, said Pacific Blue spokeswoman Melissa Thomson .
The Boeing 737 had left from Brisbane and was diverted as a precaution after concerns were raised, said Ms Thomson.
"The captain had reported a cockpit light illuminated indicating a flap sensor anomaly. Upon arrival the aircraft was inspected by engineers and subsequently cleared to fly,'' she said.
A Christchurch Airport spokeswoman confirmed the plane landed safely at 12.30am today.
