The news of New Zealand's success in securing the World Cup in six years' time has delighted Samoa, Tonga and Fiji.
The operations manager of the Samoan Rugby Football Union, Seti Asoa, said it would benefit rugby in Pacific countries given their close relationships with New Zealand.
He hoped it could increase inbound rugby tours to Samoa as interest built up in the build-up to the Cup.
"The attention of everyone will be focused on New Zealand, it will have the focus of the rugby world."
Asoa said Pacific teams would not have to travel far and would be acclimatised to the playing conditions.
Keni Ramesa, Samoa Observer news editor and former sports reporter, said Samoans were excited with the news.
"They were surprised and happy ... talkback radio here is full of it."
Ramesa said some of the rugby mad Samoan public would be able to go to the games and stay with relatives to cut costs.
"I am sure people will already be making plans."
He hoped many of the young Samoan rugby players would also be able to get over and be motivated by the atmosphere and exposure to top players.
Fiji Rugby Union chief executive Timoci Tavanavanua said he hoped the successful bid would give Fiji more opportunity to play with some top New Zealand sides in the build up.
Tonga Rugby Union education officer Etoni Tonga said the main benefit would be the cheaper cost of travel.
In its bid summary, the New Zealand Rugby Union said it would have immense value for Oceania.
"With Auckland proposed as their base for pool games, Pacific Island teams will have an effective home advantage, such will be the support from their local communities."
