A 37-year-old unemployed man has been arrested following the chance discovery of a clandestine P lab at the home he was renting in south Auckland.
The man appeared in Papakura District Court this morning facing one charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. He was remanded in custody to reappear on May 5. Further charges could follow.
Police had gone to the man's address to issue a warrant for his arrest about 10pm last night, Detective Sergeant Wayne Lendrum told NZPA.
"We spoke to the occupant who was subsequently arrested on an unrelated matter. When they went to secure the premises, they opened the door and there was the clan lab.
"Obviously it's another meth lab off the street which is good news for us. Hopefully it will show a corresponding drop in meth-related crime," Mr Lendrum said.
