Customs officers yesterday destroyed about $9 million worth of drugs and the chemicals used to make them.
About 180kg of Contac NT, a form of pseudoephedrine that is used in the manufacture of P, was encased in concrete and buried in a secret location.
It is part of 311kg of drugs products seized by Customs this year.
The chemicals were poured into steel drums where they were mixed with concrete and left to set before being placed into deep burial sites that are lined and sealed to prevent leakage.
Acting investigations manager Bruce Berry said Customs expected to have seized 1000kg of the chemicals by the end of the year.
