Months of planning, training and fundraising culminated in a sporting trip of a lifetime when the Wairarapa College development netball team arrived on the Gold Coast on Friday.
The 10 netballers are participating in the World Sport Netball Carnival and they were accompanied by coach Kelly Sargent, managers Nelda Day and deputy principal Tracy Walker and parent helper Cheryl Cohen.
The carnival has been going for 20 years and is a youth sporting festival which focuses on spirit and sportsmanship.
The Wairarapa College team have been involved in many different fundraisers including sausage sizzles, raffles, catering and marketing the Wairarapa Fashion Extravaganza and waitressing.
The group gathered last Wednesday to receive tournament tops purchased with a $750 donation from Trust House and have a training game.
