The owners of two dogs that attacked five people in Methven last month appeared in the Ashburton District Court today.
Graham Leslie van Duinen and Sharon van Duinen each face five counts relating to the attacks on February 8, when two large mastiff-cross dogs escaped from their owners' property.
Two children were attacked, as was a teenager who came to the children's rescue. The dogs then turned on a tourist, and a council ranger was the final victim in the frenzy.
The van Duinens have each been charged with owning a collie-bull mastiff cross that caused endangerment, and four charges of owning a dog which attacked people.
They were remanded without plea to reappear on April 29, to allow police time to speak to the victims of the attacks.
